The truly wonderful Rhodia branded pencil with black wood interior and trademark orange exterior plus black eraser. Sold singly (also sold in a lovely gift box of 25), the ultimate indulgence for Rhodia fans).

Why not combine this pencil with the Rhodia Webnotebook (the ultimate notebook) and the Leuchtturm pen loop in black? Truly a combination meant to be!

5 stars Funky but good Written by

I love Rhodia paper and thought I'd give their pencil a try. It's a triangular pencil somewhat like the Staedtler Ergosoft line, but thinner, about the thickness of a standard pencil with some extra wood cut away to make it a triangle. It fits the hand well and has a nice feel when writing. I would guess it is made for Rhodia by Maped as it is like their pencils. However the black wood is a unique feature and combines with that bright orange paint to really make it stand out. Despite appearances, it is a wooden pencil, just with a deep black stain. The lead is quite soft and dark, and leaves a rather thick line even when newly sharpened. It's not the smoothest lead, but goes on relatively evenly. With heavy writing you end up sharpening a fair bit, but the nice dark line is appealing. The eraser is just adequate, about what you expect from an on-pencil eraser. All around a pretty nice offering and definitely a stand out in the can full of more average looking pencils.

4 stars It feels different than before Written by

I have several Rhodia pencils that I bought 3 years ago. The orange varnish is different than this one. The graphite was harder(lighter color). The graphite feels more like 2B right now. I like it better though... I think Rhodia should note all those changes in their new pencils.

Hello, could you tell me what grade the Rhodia pencil is? I'm presuming it is a standard HB but I'd like to be sure before buying. Many thanks.

Hi There,

Unfortunately, Rhodia don't actually clarify which grade the pencil is, but I would also assume it is a standard HB pencil.
