Limited edition prints

Unique artworks for everyone, whether you love inks or not!

We started using ink splats as a way of showcasing inks and the colours in the ink, which in itself is often surprising. In fact we felt that the inks were so beautiful that they were worthy of more attention so we have created these unique and truly original prints. Each one features a different ink and each one is truly unique - no two ink splats will ever be the same. Each ink splat is created here in our high-tech laboratory (well, in our offices actually but we do follow a scientific procedure to create them). They are then photographed and digitally printed to create these quite stunning artworks.

The prints are high quality digital prints, professionally printed on exhibition quality paper that showcases the inks and the prints beautifully.

We have chosen a selection of inks based around some very well known inks, as well as a selection of different brands, colours and just ones that we loved the resulting 'splat'. These work as prints on their own but they also make a really powerful set when combined as a set of 3 or 4 inks.

The ink:

Edelstein inks are made by Pelikan in Germany, based around gemstones.

Key features:

  • Choice of sizes - these prints are normally available in both 23x23cm and 50x50cm sizes
  • Unframed
  • Exhibition quality paper for beautiful results
  • Unique and exclusive to Bureau Direct

The paper:

We use Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Pearl Natural White paper for these prints. After testing out various different papers we felt that this paper gave the best results to showcase the rich colours in these prints. The paper has a beautifully smooth finish with a pearl finish, so it has has a richness to it but without the need for a glossy finish. The paper is 320gsm and is high exhibition quality paper.

We have deliberately chosen the two sizes of prints - 23x23cm and 50x50cm - as frames for these are widely available. We are currently offering these prints as unframed prints only (we may look to offer a framed service in future). In the meantime, one of the easiest and simplest options is to use IKEA Ribba frames which we have done in our photography.

What do we mean by Limited Edition Prints?

When we refer to these prints as being 'limited editon' we mean that we will commit to printing up to the quoted amount (the product description will state this) and that once we have sold all prints, no further prints in that size will be produced. There may be the same print in other sizes available and we may make further prints of the same ink at a later date, but it will be an entirely new print.

Each print will be numbered in pencil on the back.
