Cheap enough to try on a whim - and worth it
Written by Andrew ( 04/12/2015)
As stationery nerds will, I tried this pen out on the basis that it was pretty cheap. In the event, I've had it about 2 weeks and find I'm using it more and more. Being small and light, I leave it around on my desk ready to pick up and use whenever, whereas my Lamy Safari is capped and stacked away in my pen pot. For some odd reason it seems more trouble, more of a production, to use the Lamy. So the little Herbin jumps into my hand very easily and then proceeds to write smoothly and comfortably. I thought it a bit small to begin with but, with the cap on, it is actually a near-perfect size. Through using some delightful Ohto pens I have recently become a late convert to fine-nib writing, and this Herbin pen allows me to write clearly and precisely in a way which I find very satisfying. It's perfect for writing lists, short notes and wherever small lettering is needed. The range of ink colours is alluring and I'm finding why Herbin inks are so well spoken of - quick-drying and very well defined on the paper. I note what other say about cracking; it hasn't happened with mine just yet but I will treat it carefully, just in case.
No longer disappointed

I wish I could delete my previous review. Yes some alarming cracks appeared pretty soon but I continue to use this daily. And 9 months on the cracks have got no worse, the lid stays on securely and it continues to write like a dream.

I love the way this pen writes and its size suits me perfectly. However, the plastic lets it down. There are about six bumps inside the lid which enable it to snap onto the main body. After maybe two weeks' use, slight cracks began to appear over each of these bumps and these are now about 1cm long. I'm guessing it's a matter of time before the lid breaks.

Bureau replies... as they are plastic, they can occasionally crack but we will replace them in that event, just let us know.
