Description

Details

The Al-Star is an excellent rollerball pen, with a lightweight aluminium barrel giving it a stylish edge. The pen comes in a choice of coloured finishes, with a cap and chrome clip.

This pen comes with a black ink refill as standard.

Look out for the limited edition colour pen lauched every year. For 2016 it is Charged Green and we usually sell out quite quickly of these editions.

Ruby Red

I knew this pen would be wonderful, as I already have it in a few others colours (!). However, when the Ruby Red became available, I had to have it. It's a beautiful deep shade of red - exactly the colour that I thought one of the previous Limited Editions, Raspberry would be (instead, it was a lighter, almost coppery shade of red - very nice, but not what I would call raspberry). The pen itself is the usual high Lamy standard - it is comfortable to hold and writes very well. Exactly what I've come to expect from Lamy. Basically, as long as they keep making them, I'll keep buying them.
Good pen - nothing special

This is a very acceptable roller ball that comes in some pleasing colours. That's all really. Not the best writing experience I've ever had, but OK.
Underwhelmed

After all the great reviews about the Lamy pens in general, I was sitting by the letterbox in anticipation. I was genuinally excited. My first thought after opening the package was actually disppointment. Maybe I was expecting too much, but I expected something of a higher quality for £15 or so. It's a very cheap pen (don't even want to think about what the Safari is like in real life); half plastic, half aluminium, and extremely lightweight. It seems to write quite nicely, but I think I prefer my cheap Uniball Eye pens for day to day scribbling. I didn't expect it to be, but it's not a patch on my Cross C-series rollerball. I know it's an apples and oranges comparison. Maybe that's why I'm so disappointed - I've been spoilt. I wish I'd saved my money and bought Uniball Eye pens in more colours though. The bluegreen is a pretty colour, I have to say.
