- The paper quality in this notebook is ridiculously thin. Buyer beware!
The paper is ridiculously thin. Going through mapping out chapters for my ideas with a soft pencil, writing reasonably lightly has produced such bad ghosting on the reverse side it has rendered the page unusable. The paper seems to dissolve if you rub anything out and I daren't even pop a bottle of ink open to try it with a fountain pen. Had I known I would not have gone for the Leuchtturm medium dots notebook (A5) and done more research, but every review posted online sings these notebooks praises as the go to book for bullet journaling. I have to wonder if these people are using some ultra light pen or fairy dust to accommodate doing this.
On further investigating I found others, a small handful, have found these issues as have I and it seems there may be two versions of this item, an older more robust paper type in the original and now a thinner, less quality product which I bought. (The citation states that the notebook with two bookmark ribbons seem to have this issue)
I've wasted money buying this notebook as it looks in such a state from just pencilling a few pages with outlines for my notations.
Bureau replies... these books have been popular for bullet journalling because they have numbered pages, dot layout and an index, all essential ingredients for bullet journals. The paper is described by Leuchtturm as fountain pen friendly but not everyone finds this so and darker inks can be a problem with ghosting in particular (showing through the page). The best paper for fountain pens is undoubtedly Rhodia but their books don't have an index or numbered pages. We do have the Age Bag Essentials book which has numbered pages, Clairefontaine (Rhodia) paper and an index but it is more expensive and has a card cover. There is no perfect choice at the moment unfortunately.

Have these been changed recently? or do they doted ones have different paper? I want to love them but the paper isn't ink proof on the last one i got from you. Lamy dark lilac and black have bled through really badly. I sent an email with pictures to Leucchturm and they said they're only ink proof sometimes.
Bureau replies: Leuchttum paper is ink proof, however...it is not coated paper therefore it cannot handle wet writers, broad lines and dark inks as well as Rhodia... I'd recommend trying finer nibs and paler inks...
