Beautiful celebration of the Olivetti typewriter

Beautiful notebook celebrating the Olivetti typewriter

The Olivetti typewriter is a design icon, used by Tennessee Williams, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Leonard Cohen (who tried typing underwater in the bath with his), Francis Ford Coppola (who wrote the Godfather on one) and Nick Cave to name but a few of its fans. This notebook is based on the Lettera 32 , a blue seafoam version of which has been used by Cormac McCarthy for every book he has ever written. The pages all feature unusual rulings based on patterns made with Olivetti keys in red and black and the paper is a rich heavyweight ivory.

Olivetti introduced the first portable typewriter in 1932 and have always been known for their radical integration of design into everything they do, being rewarded with an exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art. Models were produced in pistachios and pinks and their marketing campaigns were very distinctive. The Valentine S, released in 1969 on February 14th, was a bright lipstick red sportscar of a typewriter and models today sell for hundreds of pounds. The adverts were quite arresting and very 60's and can still be found with a quick internet search.
