The Blackwing Slate Notebook - perfect for your Blackwing pencils
The Blackwing Slate was designed to be the ultimate Blackwing companion. A smart and sturdy journal with 160 pages of high-quality 100gsm dot grid paper combined with a clever pencil holster to keep your favoured pencil safe and at hand. The cover is made from a smooth, matte black polymer designed to take daily wear and tear and in keeping with Blackwing's aesthetic, the rear covers features a discrete debossed Blackwing logo. The unusual spine is a result of the fact that the Blackwing Slate is dual-bound for extra strength and durability. First the pages are sewn-bound together creating a 'block' of pages, and the cover is then sewn-bound to the block for double strength. On the back page of the Slate you'll find the story of the legendary Blackwing pencil plus every notebook comes with a Blackwing 602 pencil pre-fitted.

- About the brand
These American-made pencils are considered to be one of the finest ever made and have something of a cult following. Discontinued in 1998, they soon became hot property on eBay with single pencils selling for $40 each. Brought back from extinction after petitions and protests in 2011, these are still made from the same Californian incense cedar with the finest Japanese-crafted graphite core. They are a dream to write with - Half the pressure, twice the speed - is their motto. The eraser tip is flat-ended for accuracy and there are three versions which differ in firmness with the standard Blackwing the softest, the Pearl medium and the 602 the firmest.
These pencils have a proud heritage and famous users include John Steinbeck, Stephen Sondheim, Leonard Bernstein and Chuck Jones, who created Bugs Bunny with his Palamino.
