About the artist
Alexis Nolla is a comic artist based in Barcelona. He experiments with styles, ranging from comic strips and black and white line drawings to fully-fledged, multi-coloured variations, but his work in all its forms is tongue-in-cheek and and very, very funny. Colourful, bold and timeless, there’s nothing not to like
Exiample (pronounced Aishampla) is Catalan for expansion and this was the area between the old city and the surrounding ‘towns’, now other Barrios, built in the late 19th century and early 20th. Though characterised by its grid layout of streets, it is also home to several of Antoni Gaudi’s most famous buildings, the Sagrada Familia, La Pedrera and Casa Batlo. It is also often referred to as Gayxample due to its vibrant gay scene.
